Young Artist Showcase

Young Artist ShowcaseYOUNG ARTIST SHOWCASE features excellent young singers embarking on careers in vocal repertoire. The singers are in their twenties, either in vocal programs or have recently graduated. This concert provides the singers with the opportunity to polish current repertoire or try out recent additions.

Among these singers, several have had a prior history with Opera San Luis Obispo: Marissa Bloom, Katelyn and Brian Holliday, partly through our Summer Opera Camp, later becoming involved in opera chorus or pursuing degrees at schools with vocal emphasis. Opera San Luis Obispo's deepening connections with Cuesta College and the Music Department at Cal Poly provide an excellent resource for budding resident artists. From those schools, Karlie Saenz and Julia Corbett have sung with the opera chorus for several years. Patricia Rosas, entering her last year at Cal Poly, received Honorable Mention in our Vocal Competition. And the newest addition to the chorus, Amy Beth Nickelson, sang in our La boheme chorus last spring.

The repertoire will be enjoyable and fresh. Join us and be a part of a "rising star's" beginnings.

  • Sunday, September 26, 2010, 4pm - 6pm
